Are your critical documents Secure ?

It is recommended that your “Digital Go-Bag” has an “Encrypted USB Flash Drive that contains digital copies of your Critical Documents, spanning Identification, Medical, Legal, Financial, Business, Personal, Contacts and more. In my discussions with friends and family their Critical Documents were not as secure as they thought. They were in multiple locations, a Desk Draw, a Fireproof Safe, a Safety Deposit Box… As for digital copies, the most often reply was, “I do not have Digital Copies”.

Some said they had a “Secure Cloud Backup”, which is great, but if cell service and/or the internet is down, what do you do? Hence the “Encrypted USB Flash Drive.

In an emergency access to these documents could be critical depending on the situation. In many cases timely access to these documents, especially Legal /Medical /Contacts, could make the difference between life and death. Those who have lived through an emergency understand this.

This is why you need an “Emergency Strategy that includes securing the physical documents and creating Digital copies. This also requires a “Maintenance Plan to ensure you have the most up to date copies.   This is in addition to backups of your devices: Mobile Phones, Laptops, Pads…
