Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

In previous blogs, the scope, of what to consider when protecting your digital assets and the information they access, was introduced. As stated, an emergency raises the risk, but the risk is there regardless. Knowledge /Awareness is critical…

Security standards are based on Industry | Federal |… requirements and are offered /enforced by the provider. There are multiple levels of authentication to access your Devices | Accounts | Web Sites |….

Single-Factor Authentication (SFA)
Step 1: Username /Password | Passcode | PassKey

Two-Factor Authentication (2FC) – If the Application /Website offers 2FA, Enable it!!!
Step 1: Username and password
Step 2: A Passcode | Push Notification | Physical Key | Biometrics

2FA options are:
1. Security Questions
2. Verification time-based Passcode: SMS Message | Email Message | Phone Call
3. Push Notification: Accept or Decline
4. One-Time Passcode: QR Code then app generates a one-time Passcode
5. Physical Security Key: Universal Second Factor (U2F) Key
6. Biometric: Fingerprint | Facial | Iris Scanning

FYI: there is a Multifactor Authentication (MFA) that requires two or more forms of verification. Example:
Step 1: Username /Password
Step 2: A Passcode
Step 3: Fingerprint

It does not matter if you are Tech Savvy or not, security can be daunting. The bottom line is your Devices, Networks, Applications, Accounts must be protected.
